INTERIM SELF INSPECTION
Interim Self Inspections are very closely related to
Periodic Performance Reviews.
The College of American Pathologists (CAP)
requires an Interim Self Inspection every other year. CAP
sends the laboratory a customized set of checklists, including
a separate checklist for each functional area of the laboratory:
Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis, and so forth.
- Using the customized CAP checklists, we perform the review.
The process is similar to that of performing PPR [Products
and Services]: compliance to every checklist question is
evaluated by reviewing the policies, processes, procedures,
bench level tasks, walk through inspections and discussions.
- You have the option of receiving a written report which
contains:
- The checklist question number.
- Whether it is Phase I or II question.
- Lab Accreditation Consultants' observations during
the inspection.
- Detailed description of process improvement measures
with appropriate references from the literature.
- In some circumstances, where a process improvement
measure includes implementing a brief policy, log, or
a checklist, we will prepare it for you free of charge.
- This report, like the PPR
[Products and Services] report, becomes an on-going reference
for your laboratory.
